Kentown Support has been recognized for their exceptional collaborative approach in supporting seriously ill children and their families in the community. The organization has been nominated as a finalist in the Palliative & End of Life Care Awards in The Partnership Working Across Health & Social Care Award category. The awards ceremony will take place on July 2nd at London’s Hilton Bankside.
The Kentown Programme is a pioneering initiative that aims to transform community children’s palliative care across the UK. Their deep commitment to fairness and kindness drives their efforts to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, diagnosis, or location, receives high-quality and sensitive palliative care in the comfort of their own home.
The programme brings together experts from the statutory and voluntary sectors, forming new teams and working closely with existing service providers and commissioners. This collaborative approach has proven successful in Lancashire, South Cumbria, and Greater Manchester, where Kentown Support is filling gaps in children’s palliative care provision and creating a united team around the child and their family.
Dr Helena Dunbar, CEO of Kentown Support, expressed her excitement about being nominated as a finalist, stating, “Being nominated is an opportunity for us to thank our partners and team members who work tirelessly to deliver the much-needed support to children and families. We will continue to expand our services into other areas, with the goal of meeting the needs of seriously ill children and their families where and when they need it most.”
The gala ceremony on July 2nd will reveal if Kentown Support has won the award. The organization remains dedicated to their mission of improving community palliative care for children across the UK and will continue to work towards creating a more integrated and accessible system for those in need.
