On Friday 7 August, 2026, the Bridsow Community Hall hosted a community fundraiser in support of Hope Spring Water’s latest borehole project in Northern Nigeria.
The event, organized by the St Bridget Church Tuesday Coffee Morning group, raised over £242 to help provide access to clean, safe water for communities in need. Local community members gathered over tea, coffee, and biscuits to contribute to the cause.
The funds were raised through donations made during the coffee morning, with some attendees giving additional contributions specifically towards Hope Spring Water’s clean water work. A raffle held during the event also helped increase the final amount raised.
Peter Dowsett, trustee of Hope Spring and regular attendee of the coffee morning, played a crucial role in supporting the fundraiser along with his wife, Chris. They have both been instrumental in raising thousands of pounds for the charity over the years.
Fellow trustee Temi Odurinde was present at the event to accept the donation on behalf of Hope Spring Water. He expressed his gratitude to the members of the community for their generosity and explained that every contribution helps the charity move closer to providing reliable access to clean water. The money raised will go towards the borehole project currently underway in Northern Nigeria.
Odurinde also promised to return to the group with an update on the clean water project supported by their donations. He emphasized the importance of donors being able to see the impact of their contributions and looked forward to sharing the progress with the group.
This fundraiser marks the third time in the past five years that the St Bridget Church Tuesday Coffee Morning group has raised funds for Hope Spring Water, showcasing a longstanding relationship between the Ross-on-Wye community and the charity. It highlights the potential of small community fundraising events to make a meaningful difference in combating water poverty.
This event was not associated with any organization or platform and was solely organized and supported by the members of St Bridget Church Tuesday Coffee Morning and Hope Spring Water.
