“Vahid Mahdavi, Iranian Refugee Filmmaker, Explores Iran’s January 2026 Violence in His AI-Hybrid Feature “77 Hours” for Global Viewers”

London-based production company CVP CHAT LTD has announced the launch of an international media campaign for “77 Hours”, a feature film written and directed by Iranian refugee filmmaker Vahid Mahdavi. The film, which is set to have its premiere on Friday, July 10th, 2026 at Curzon Soho in London, is a tense survival narrative inspired by the events of January 8-9, 2026 in Iran.

“77 Hours” follows the story of a man who becomes trapped in the aftermath of a public massacre while trying to collect his phone in the city. As he struggles to survive, he is joined by other characters, including a mother searching for her daughter and a doctor forced to make difficult decisions. The film aims to shed light on the violence and suffering experienced by civilians during the events in Iran.

Using a combination of real actors and AI-generated cinematic environments, “77 Hours” is being hailed as one of the first ultra-realistic AI-hybrid political survival feature films. The production team utilized new visual production methods to recreate the chaotic atmosphere of unrest, hospital raids, and urban violence, while keeping the emotional focus on the ordinary people caught in the midst of a national tragedy.

For writer and director Vahid Mahdavi, “77 Hours” is not just a political thriller, but also a way to preserve the memory of those who were impacted by the events in Iran. As an Iranian refugee filmmaker, Mahdavi believes that stories like this should not be silenced. “This film is about survival, fear, sacrifice, and the human cost of state violence. It is a cinematic witness to people whose voices were never allowed to be heard,” said Mahdavi.

Mahdavi’s personal experiences as a refugee and his background in television and visual storytelling have heavily influenced the film’s emotional foundation. The producers hope that “77 Hours” will spark important conversations about the events of January 2026, the role of cinema in preserving collective memory, and the use of AI-assisted filmmaking as a means of urgent political storytelling.

The private screening of “77 Hours” will take place on Friday, July 10th, 2026 at Curzon Soho in London. The event will bring together media representatives, filmmakers, cultural figures, and members of the Iranian political and human rights community as part of the film’s wider international campaign.

The film is intended for adult audiences and contains intense depictions of violence, trauma, and political repression.
