Leading excursion provider oklanzarote.com has unveiled a series of guided tours that allow visitors to experience Lanzarote’s extraordinary landscape while supporting its conservation.
Lanzarote has long been a pioneer of sustainable travel. Earlier this year, the island’s Cabildo and tourist board launched a new initiative encouraging visitors to respect the island’s delicate ecosystems and embrace ethical tourism practices that enhance the quality of life for local residents.
Further highlighting this commitment, Lanzarote will host the 30th anniversary update of the World Charter for Sustainable Tourism at the renowned Jameos del Agua on 2 July 2025, cementing its reputation as a global leader in responsible tourism.
oklanzarote.com’s eco-tours include small-group volcanic walks designed to ease pressure on popular trails, as well as cultural and ecological excursions that explore the island’s volcanic origins and the artistic legacy of César Manrique.
Its marine eco-experiences follow the conservation standards set by the Chinijo Archipelago Marine Reserve and provide meaningful support to local communities by collaborating with family-run restaurants, wineries and expert guides.
These trips offer UK visitors the chance to experience Lanzarote in a more conscious and environmentally responsible way.
Although Lanzarote welcomed over 3.2 million tourists in 2024, local authorities are slowing growth to protect the landscape. A recent pilot programme introduced shuttle buses to the Volcanoes Natural Park to reduce the volume of private cars during peak visiting times – a tangible step towards sustainable access to Timanfaya and nearby sites.
