Youth Leads UK Partners with Mayor Andy Burnham to Empower Future Leaders

Youth Leads UK, in collaboration with Greater Manchester’s Mayor Andy Burnham, has officially launched a revolutionary new toolkit aimed at promoting civic education and engagement among young individuals.

The Civic Leadership Youth Steering Group, consisting of more than 20 exceptional youths from diverse backgrounds across Greater Manchester, has worked tirelessly to develop this resource. Through extensive research and consultation with various stakeholders, including decision makers, educators, and youth groups, the group identified a significant lack of awareness among young people about civic roles and opportunities for involvement.

To celebrate the launch of this innovative toolkit, a special event was held at RSM UK’s Manchester office, bringing together leaders from the public, private, and charity sectors. The event not only highlighted the importance of the toolkit but also provided a platform for young people to network with decision makers and explore new avenues for civic engagement.

In a statement, Mayor Andy Burnham expressed his support for the toolkit, encouraging educators, community leaders, and youth organizations to utilize its full potential. He emphasized the need for young people’s voices to be heard and their active participation in decision-making processes, stating that his administration is committed to addressing discrimination, injustice, and structural inequalities in the city-region.

Saeed Atcha MBE DL, CEO of Youth Leads UK, also shared his excitement about the launch, stating that the toolkit is a game-changer for youth engagement. He believes that it will equip young people with the necessary knowledge and confidence to take charge and shape the future of Greater Manchester, emphasizing the importance of youth leadership and transformation.

Kevin Duffy, Regional Managing Partner at RSM UK in the North West, expressed his passion for social mobility and the firm’s pride in supporting such a crucial initiative that benefits both young people and the Greater Manchester region. He also expressed his eagerness to continue the partnership with Youth Leads UK and witness the evolution of their program.
