Leeds, UK – In an effort to bring transparency to the out-of-home advertising industry, Loud! OOH, a newly established independent agency, launched a thought-provoking campaign in early July. The agency strategically placed two billboards on York Street in Leeds city centre, with one showcasing a competitor’s price of £650 and the other revealing Loud! OOH’s price of £325 for the same site.
The campaign, which aimed to challenge the lack of transparency within the industry, has now been running for two weeks and has already seen significant results in various measurable ways.
According to Jamie Roberts, founder of Loud! OOH, the campaign has not only generated an impressive 188% increase in new website traffic on loudooh.co.uk, but also a 155.9% increase in LinkedIn post engagement and a 61.1% growth in followers over a 14-day campaign window. In addition, the agency has received direct leads and confirmed at least two client campaigns for an August launch, with continuous inbound enquiries.
The campaign has also garnered media attention, with coverage in several major publications. This has enabled the agency to reach a wider audience, including those who may not have been familiar with the agency or its services, through editorial validation rather than paid placement.
Roberts explains, “Attention is only valuable if it leads to conversion, and this campaign has certainly delivered transparent results. We launched a transparency campaign and it has proven its effectiveness. The medium has truly become the message.”
What sets this campaign apart from others is its self-referential approach. By using its own medium to advertise its own published rate card, Loud! OOH has proven its transparency in real-time, a feat that would not have been as credible through a landing page or other means.
The distribution of media coverage also speaks to the effectiveness of the campaign, as it has reached different tiers of audiences, including industry publications, business media, and industry trade press. This suggests that the idea itself, not just the execution, resonated with a wide range of audiences.
While the physical life of the campaign is coming to an end, the momentum continues as Loud! OOH has published its OOH costs guide, providing transparent pricing for various mediums such as billboards, buses, London Underground, airports, taxis, and digital AdVans. This guide is accessible on loudooh.co.uk/pricing, without the need for forms, discovery calls, or hidden fees.
Roberts is already planning the second phase of the campaign, which will be an “Empty Billboard” concept, set to launch later this summer. This concept will serve as a commentary on the effects of high OOH pricing, which often makes premium real estate inaccessible for most businesses.
