Sri Lanka Taxi Charter Service International Limited (SLTCS Ltd.) has announced a private driver-guided car charter offering aimed at travellers from Europe who wish to explore Sri Lanka with convenience and confidence.
The service provides travellers with licensed Tourist Drivers and private, air-conditioned vehicles available for bespoke itineraries. Guests receive confirmed written pricing and a matched vehicle and driver ahead of arrival, offering an organised alternative to informal taxis or complex public transport connections.
“Building on our proven track record serving Japanese travelers, we are entering the United Kingdom market. By providing licensed tour drivers who meet the exacting standards of Japanese guests, we will make a trip to Sri Lanka exceptional.” said a spokesperson for SLTCS.
English-speaking drivers are standard, with other languages—including Japanese—available on request to support families and first-time visitors.
Vehicle choices include sedans for smaller groups, mid-sized vans for families or friends, and larger vans for groups of up to nine. All vehicles are air-conditioned. Child seats are available if traveller details are provided when booking.
Reservations follow a straightforward three-stage process: travellers share dates and group size; SLTCS provides a personalised proposal with pricing; bookings are confirmed. Prior to travel, driver and vehicle details are shared—typically via WhatsApp—for smooth coordination at airports and hotels.
The company states that its pricing approach emphasises transparency and value, targeting rates that are typically around 30% lower than those charged through major travel agencies, with exact prices issued per itinerary.
Peak season extends from December to March, and travellers are encouraged to enquire early. Short trips under four days are currently not accepted due to strong local demand.
Payments are divided clearly: the Agency Service Fee is settled online with a secure PCI-DSS-compliant processor, while the Driver Fare is paid directly to the driver, normally in local currency. SLTCS serves as the intermediary and does not handle the driver’s payment. The Agency Service Fee refund structure is straightforward: full refund up to seven days before travel; non-refundable within six days of departure.
The charter service enables efficient sightseeing, with drivers helping coordinate entry tickets, meal breaks, rest stops, and route adjustments to suit conditions on the day.
Where deeper cultural insight is needed, licensed national or site guides can be included. For excursions such as wildlife safaris or whale-watching, SLTCS refers trusted operators with payments handled directly.
The service also supports corporate travel, offering receipts and itinerary planning for multi-city visits.
For late-night arrivals, SLTCS advises the best travel plan based on safety, distance, and driver availability, with any price differences explained clearly in advance.
