IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts Unveils Top Costa del Sol Destinations

Last Updated on: 22nd November 2023, 04:48 am

IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts recently released a comprehensive study identifying the top towns and cities along the Costa del Sol. The study ranked these destinations using various criteria, including the number of sunny days annually, the abundance of restaurants and attractions, and their scores on the Happiness Index.

The data underscores the region’s allure, offering a diverse array of exceptional locales. Malaga emerged as the premier destination on the Costa del Sol, followed closely by popular spots like Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella, and Benalmádena, all making the top five.

In terms of dining and entertainment options, Malaga, Marbella, and Fuengirola lead the pack with the highest concentration of restaurants and attractions.

Torremolinos boasts the title of the happiest place on the Costa del Sol, also enjoying the highest number of sunny days, a distinction it shares with Malaga.

Malaga reigns supreme in the digital realm, dominating Instagram hashtags and online searches. It garners considerably more online attention than Marbella, the second most popular location. This popularity is attributed not only to Malaga’s size but also to its widespread appeal.

Other areas like Torremolinos and Fuengirola also generate significant interest, alongside Nerja, famed for its ‘Balcony of Europe’ seafront promenade.

The IDILIQ Hotels survey began by shortlisting the top 20 most populous towns and cities on the Costa del Sol. Each location was then scored from 1 to 20 based on their performance in categories like restaurant and attraction count, sunny days, happiness index scores, Instagram hashtags, and online search frequency.
