Last Tuesday, runners, walkers, and families from all over gathered for Race the Light, an unforgettable trail running event organized by Runaway Racing in partnership with the Chilterns Neuro Centre. The event raised over £3,000 to support local individuals affected by MS, Parkinson’s, and strokes.
Held in the picturesque setting of Wendover Woods, participants had the option to choose from a challenging 10k trail run, a less daunting 5k trail run, or a 1.5k accessible route for individuals with mobility challenges, wheelchair users, and families with young children to experience the atmosphere and enjoy the woodland surroundings.
As the sun began to set, people of all ages and abilities made their way through the forest, cheered on by enthusiastic volunteers and supporters, creating a lively community celebration while raising funds for a local cause.
The winners of this year’s races were announced as follows:
Men’s 10k winner: James Davis – with a time of 36 minutes and 18 seconds
Women’s 10k winner: Jessica Carini – with a time of 51 minutes and 34 seconds
Women’s 5k winner: Lauren Mayot – with a time of 26 minutes and 26 seconds
Men’s 5k winner: Vincent Mayot – with a time of 27 minutes and 55 seconds
The event concluded with an awards ceremony, recognizing the exceptional performances and celebrating the achievements of all participants who crossed the finish line.
“Race the Light is more than just about finishing times. It’s about bringing people together, promoting outdoor activities, and supporting a remarkable local charity,” said Chris Bradley, Director of Runaway Racing. “We were thrilled to see such a diverse range of participants, from experienced trail runners to families and individuals completing the accessible route. We would like to thank everyone who took part, volunteered, and helped make this event a success.”
