“Charitable London Cabbies Organize 68-Taxi Convoy for Special Zoo Trip with SEND and Disadvantaged Children”

London Taxis to Form Spectacular Convoy for Annual Charity Outing

London, UK – On Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, the streets of London will be filled with a heartwarming sight as a convoy of 68 traditional London licensed taxis embark on their annual charity outing. The London Taxi Drivers’ Charity for Children is organizing this event in support of children from diverse backgrounds, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and disadvantaged backgrounds. The convoy will take the children to Hertfordshire Zoo for a day of fun and adventure.

The event is made possible by the generosity and dedication of volunteer London cabbies, who have given up their time and trade to drive the convoy. The children, aged 4 to 11, will be accompanied by their families, as well as carers and teachers. This day out is a much-needed break for these children who face daily challenges.

The event will kick off at 8:30 AM at Asda Isle of Dogs, where the children and their families will begin to arrive. This will be a great opportunity for energetic and vibrant photos as the children see the 68 iconic cabs lined up and get ready for the day. Interviews with the volunteer drivers, organizers, and families will be available at this time.

At 9:30 AM, the convoy will set off from Asda Isle of Dogs, bidding farewell to London. The sight of 68 taxis driving together is sure to be a spectacular one. The convoy will arrive at Hertfordshire Zoo at 11:00 AM, where they will be greeted by the zoo staff and animals.

At 4:00 PM, the convoy will depart from Hertfordshire Zoo, heading back to London and arriving at approximately 5:00 PM. Throughout the day, the taxi drivers will be competing for the title of “Best-Dressed Taxi” with many of the cabs being specially decorated for the occasion. This will be a vibrant and colorful display, perfect for video and photography.

To ensure that the children and their carers can solely focus on having fun, the charity is providing an all-inclusive day out for everyone. This includes complimentary lunch, refreshments, ice cream, mini-golf, and unlimited rides on the Hertfordshire Zoo train.

The London Taxi Drivers’ Charity for Children is a volunteer-run organization that takes great pride in organizing and funding these special outings. For almost 100 years, London’s legendary cab drivers have been raising funds for and organizing these events, providing unforgettable experiences and lasting memories for children in need.

Claire Zazzara, the charity’s PR and Social Media Officer, expressed her excitement for the event, saying, “There is nothing quite like the sight of dozens of traditional London cabs driving together to bring pure joy to these incredible children. Our drivers do this out of love, volunteering their time to make sure these kids get a day out they’ll never forget. Seeing the smiles on their faces when the convoy moves out makes every single mile worth it.”

Members of the press are invited to attend the departure point at Asda Isle of Dogs or meet the convoy at Hertfordshire Zoo. Interviews and filming opportunities can be accommodated on-site.
