London Taxi Drivers’ Charity for Children Celebrates 98th Summer Outing with 4th Trip to Hertfordshire Zoo

London, UK – The London Taxi Drivers’ Charity for Children (LTCFC) recently marked a major milestone as they completed their 98th annual summer outing. This year, the charity took a convoy of London taxis to Hertfordshire Zoo for the fourth consecutive year, providing a memorable day out for nearly 1,000 London school children.

The annual trip to Hertfordshire Zoo has become a beloved tradition for the charity, with a focus on providing a stress-free and enjoyable experience for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). By coordinating transportation and activities for the children and their families, the LTCFC aims to create lasting memories for all involved.

One of the participating schools, shared their experience from the day, “Our children had a fabulous time at Hertfordshire Zoo! The event was well-organised, inclusive and run with tireless enthusiasm. The greatest care was taken with pupil’s safety and wellbeing. Our driver really looked after us and gave us a superb, smooth ride.”

The LTCFC extends their gratitude to all the sponsors, volunteers, and partners who made the 2026 summer outing possible. These include Peter & Roger Wilkinson from the Worshipful Company of Tin Plate Workers alias Wire Workers, DCL Insurance, the volunteer drivers, Hannah & Jordan at Hertfordshire Zoo, and many more.

The charity also received support from organizations such as the AA, Metropolitan Police, and LMS Medical Team to ensure a safe and successful outing. Planning for next year’s event is already underway, with the LTCFC aiming to continue their tradition of providing free outings, entertainment, and equipment for children with special educational needs, disabilities, or disadvantaged backgrounds.

Funded entirely by voluntary donations and run by volunteer London cab drivers, the LTCFC is committed to making a difference in the lives of children and their families. It is a testament to the generosity and compassion of the London community that this annual summer outing has become a cherished event for all involved.
