Young Car Enthusiast Inspired by Tonbridge Charity Supercar Rally, Raising Over £10,000 for a Good Cause

Tonbridge Racecourse was alive with excitement on Sunday, 29th June as The Mason Foundation, a national charity, hosted its inaugural Charity Supercar Rally and Community Event. The event welcomed over 3,000 visitors and showcased over 100 supercars and classic cars, as well as 50 Harley-Davidsons. The event was free and family-friendly, drawing in crowds from not only Kent, but from all over the country.

The festival began with a spectacular vehicle parade down Tonbridge High Street, followed by an awards ceremony for standout cars and bikes. Thanks to the generosity of attendees, exhibitors, and supporters, including a significant donation from NFU Mutual, the event raised over £10,000. These funds will go towards The Mason Foundation’s mission to build healthier, happier, and more inclusive communities nationwide through various programs such as The Community Mile, Propel, and other community-designed impact projects.

Founder of The Mason Foundation, Stephen Mason, expressed his delight with the success of the event, saying, “The charity supercar rally in Tonbridge was a fantastic event – with over 100 supercars and 50 Harley-Davidsons, it truly brought the community together. The day was filled with a brilliant mix of food, music, physical activity, and good old-fashioned community spirit. We’re absolutely thrilled to have raised over £10,000 to support our mission across the UK.”

The event was made possible by the dedication of local partners and volunteers, including Tonbridge Farmers Market for curating food vendors, Music Station Pro and their talented students for providing live entertainment, James Taylor for championing the Tonbridge Community Mile, Kent Police Cadets for showcasing their skills and equipment, Rye Sailability for demonstrating accessible sailing, West Kent Freemasons for their support with marshalling and road closures, and David and Faye March for photography and videography.

One of the most memorable moments of the day was when 17-year-old Jake, a student from Tonbridge living with Friedreich’s Ataxia, got the chance to sit inside his dream car – an Aston Martin DB11 – and meet the car’s owner, Stephen Mason. Stephen, who also lives with physical disabilities and dyslexia, offered Jake career advice and mentoring, and even gave him a ride in the DB11. Jake was later named the Youth Ambassador for The Mason Foundation, giving him the opportunity to develop employability skills.

Reflecting on the experience, Jake said, “It was a day I’ll never forget – not just for the thrill of sitting in a DB11, but for the kindness, inspiration, and generosity shown by Mr. Mason. Before I met him, my future seemed like a cul-de-sac because there wasn’t much to look forward to. Since we became friends, my future began to look quite promising.” With newfound confidence and optimism, Jake now dreams of becoming a video-game writer and believes The Mason Foundation’s support will help make those ambitions possible.

Founder Stephen Mason clarified that Jake’s experience was a personal gesture, not a regular activity of the charity, and all interactions were carried out safely with appropriate supervision and safeguarding in place.

The Mason Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, exhibited vehicles, volunteered, and donated. The support from the community is transforming lives, ensuring that young people like Jake can dream big and communities can thrive.
