German Bioenergy Company VORN Announces New CEO and CFO for 2026
On Thursday, January 15th, 2026, VORN Bioenergy, a leading German bioenergy company, announced the appointment of Jörg Lennertz as its new Chief Executive Officer and Manuel Fernández Durán as Chief Financial Officer. The two new executives, along with Michael Wallis Olausson, will form the company’s new management team.
Lennertz brings a wealth of experience in the bioenergy sector, having previously worked at Uniper where he played an integral role in building the company’s renewable energy business in Europe. His experience in project development, execution, and scaling up will be crucial in implementing VORN Bioenergy’s ambitious growth strategy across Germany, Italy, the Iberian Peninsula, and Poland. Lennertz takes over from Thorsten Holl, who successfully restructured and repositioned the company over the past three years.
In a statement, Lennertz said, “VORN Bioenergy has a strong track record in realizing and optimizing biomethane assets, and I am excited to join them as they enter a new phase of execution. I look forward to building on this momentum and becoming the partner of choice for feedstock suppliers and offtakers as we work towards Europe’s decarbonization goals.”
Fernández brings over 18 years of experience as a CFO, most recently at BlueFloat Energy, and has a proven track record in project financing and building finance teams for long-term growth.
The new management team is completed by Michael Wallis Olausson, who joined as Chief Operating Officer in February 2025 and brings over 15 years of biogas industry experience, with a focus on project construction and operation.
According to Chris Archer, Head of Macquarie Asset Management, Green Investments EMEA, the shareholder of VORN Bioenergy, “We would like to thank Thorsten Holl and Dirk Simons for their leadership and dedication in recent years. As we look to the future, the complementary strengths of Jörg, Manuel, and Michael position VORN exceptionally well to deliver on its growth ambitions.”
VORN Bioenergy, an independent company since 2022, has over 20 years of project experience and has successfully completed more than 40 bioenergy projects in Europe. The company is headquartered in Regensburg, Germany, and has operations in Germany, Italy, Spain, and Poland. VORN Bioenergy’s goal is to operate emissions-free and produce two TWh of biomethane per year by 2030.
