Volunteer with Age Concern Hampshire During Volunteers Week and Make a Difference in the Lives of Seniors

Age Concern Hampshire (ACH) is pleased to announce the start of Volunteer Week UK, which will run from 2nd to 8th June 2025. The charity is taking this opportunity to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of its volunteers and to encourage members of the community to join their mission in supporting older adults to live well as they age.

Volunteers Week is an annual event that takes place nationwide and is dedicated to acknowledging the efforts of volunteers and inspiring more people to get involved in their local communities. Age Concern Hampshire offers a variety of volunteer roles that cater to diverse skills and interests, all aimed at improving the quality of life for older people.

Volunteering with Age Concern Hampshire brings many benefits, not only for the community but also for the volunteers themselves. Many individuals find a sense of purpose in making a positive impact in the lives of older adults. Volunteering also provides opportunities to develop crucial skills such as communication, organization, and empathy, while also creating new social connections.

Last year, ACH conducted a volunteer survey to better understand the motivations and advantages of volunteering. 80% of those surveyed said they would recommend ACH to a friend, and almost all of them reported benefiting from opportunities to learn new skills and participate in optional training if resources allowed.

Aside from the practical benefits, volunteering has been shown to have a positive impact on mental health and well-being, giving volunteers a sense of fulfillment and belonging. Many volunteer roles offer flexible hours, making it possible for busy individuals to contribute in a way that suits their schedule.

Brogan Rehill, Head of Fundraising and Volunteer Services at Age Concern Hampshire, expressed, “Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Their dedication helps us reach more older people, reduce loneliness, and build vibrant, inclusive communities. This Volunteer Week, whatever you choose to do, and however much time you have to give, you’ll be making an incredible difference for older people at a time in their lives when they need help the most.”
