“Valentine’s Poo at Shaldon Wildlife Trust: Turning Love’s Misery into Wildlife’s Salvation”

Shaldon Wildlife Trust Invites Supporters to Share Love in Unique Way this Valentine’s Day

Shaldon Wildlife Trust is once again offering a unique and unforgettable way to show love and affection this Valentine’s Day. The Trust’s “Poo Photo” initiative allows supporters to purchase a personalised image featuring their loved one’s name depicted in the excrement of one of the Trust’s animals. Not only does this gift bring a smile to people’s faces, but it also supports wildlife conservation efforts.

After the success of last year’s campaign, which saw 15 supporters purchase framed images, the Trust is expanding the idea for 2026. “Flowers and chocolates are lovely,” said Zak Showell, Director of Shaldon Wildlife Trust. “But for those who want to give something fun, memorable, and impactful, why not let nature do the talking? Our Valentine’s Poo Sale not only brings a smile, it also helps fund vital conservation work here and around the world.”

Here’s how it works: for £5, a keeper will select an animal’s “offering” to feature with a personalised message. For £10, supporters can choose the species, making it the perfect gift for someone who loves meerkats or lemurs. Each image will be shared on the Trust’s social media channels on February 14th.

All proceeds from the Poo Photo initiative will directly support Shaldon Wildlife Trust’s conservation efforts, including 8 projects globally and the endangered species at the zoo. This initiative celebrates the Trust’s mission to protect wildlife and raise awareness of conservation, proving that even the most unusual gifts can make a big difference for endangered species.
