University Manchester University Launches the EcoPlast Project

Manchester, UK – The EcoPlast (Empowering Circular Operations in the Automotive Plastics Value Chain) project held its kick-off meeting on 24-25 June, 2025 at the Hyatt Regency Manchester. Hosted by the project coordinator, Technovative Solutions Limited (TVS), the meeting marked the official start of the 36-month project.

The aim of the EcoPlast project is to revolutionize the automotive plastics value chain through digital solutions that promote circularity, ensure non-toxicity, and improve the durability of secondary materials. By utilizing recycling, upcycling, and reuse, the project aims to advance the circular economy. It will also incorporate a blockchain-enabled Digital Product Passport (DPP) for traceability, a circular marketplace to promote sustainable business practices, and tools such as the Circularity Index (CI), ecoDesign, and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). Additionally, the project will integrate AI, robotics, and Digital Twins (DTs) to optimize processes.

The kick-off meeting was attended by the project coordinator, Technovative Solutions Ltd., and its consortium members including Ford Otomotiv Sanayi A.S., Stellantis, Stryker, Assan Hanil, Adler Pelzer Group, Eurotec, Proplast, Beker Recycle, Autodemolizione Pollini, Sabancı University, Brunel University London, Cardiff University, İstanbul University, Simularge Global, Kordsa, and DigiProd Pass Ltd.
