London – On Friday, November 7, 2025, the UK-registered charity, REUSE Foundation, officially launched “Bottles for Good”. This nationwide initiative aims to reduce plastic waste by inviting refill stores, both online and brick-and-mortar, to participate. These stores will receive free high-quality reusable bottle bundles and will support reuse solutions in rural India.
The Impact of the Campaign
It is estimated that UK households discard 1.7 billion pieces of plastic packaging every week, equating to nearly 90 billion pieces per year. Unfortunately, much of this plastic is single-use, unrecyclable, and ends up in landfills, incinerators, or is exported with the risk of environmental leakage. In rural India, 70% of plastic waste is mismanaged, and the volume is continuously increasing, causing negative impacts on health, agriculture, and livelihoods.
The “Bottles for Good” campaign offers a practical and scalable solution for refill stores to promote reuse habits locally while making a global impact.
A Win-Win for Stores and Communities
Participating refill stores will receive free bundles of high-quality refillable bottles, stainless-steel push-pumps, and caps, along with marketing materials and social media mentions from REUSE Foundation. Stores will have full control over retail pricing, with REUSE Foundation suggesting that approximately 50% of each sale is donated to fund reuse solutions in India. This means that stores will keep the remainder of the profits. Every product sold will support women-led reuse initiatives in India, providing training to women, many of whom were formerly marginalized waste-pickers, to deliver household refills and replace single-use sachets and bottles. Customers will have the opportunity to reduce plastic waste at home while also supporting international social impact.
