Survey Shows Syrians Have Positive Outlook on the Future of Their Country, Regional Differences Present Throughout Syria

Damascus, December 15, 2025 – A recent survey conducted by Investimate and the Syrian and Levant Market Compass (SLMC) has revealed a mix of satisfaction and caution among Syrians regarding the country’s future, with regional variations across Syria.

The survey, which was conducted on the first anniversary of the Syria Liberation Day, covered 1062 participants from all Syrian governorates and took place between November 30th and December 5th, 2025. It offers an extensive and comprehensive snapshot of public sentiment in Syria one year after liberation.

According to the survey, nearly 4 out of 5 Syrians rate the government’s performance as “good” or “very good”, while approximately 85% believe that the country is moving in the right direction. The majority of respondents (69%) also feel that they are “completely free” or “very free” in expressing their political opinions.

However, these findings also reveal a decline in the percentage of respondents who believe that the country is moving in the right direction compared to a similar survey conducted in January 2025, from 94% to 85%. Despite this decline, the overall positive direction of public opinion remains consistent.

The survey also showed high levels of confidence in official institutions, with 83% expressing confidence in the country’s president, 77% in the General Security and security services, 73% in the judiciary, and 71% in the traffic police. However, confidence in the army was lower at 64%, which could be attributed to recent events in some regions of Syria.

In terms of foreign partnerships, the survey revealed a preference for pragmatic partnerships over traditional ideological frameworks. Saudi Arabia was identified as the top economic partner, followed by the United States and Turkey. In terms of political and security partnerships, Turkey and the United States were also the most favored options.

The survey also found that a large majority of respondents (84%) supported cooperation with the United States in combating ISIS/Daesh, while nearly 59% opposed entering into a peace agreement with Israel.

According to Firas al-Kayyal, CEO of Investimate and SLMC, these findings indicate a gradual shift towards pragmatism among the Syrian public. He stated, “People are no longer captive to grand slogans or ideological polarization; they are increasingly willing to evaluate each partnership based on its direct benefit to their daily lives.”

The survey also suggests a desire for a state model based on equal rights and opportunities for all citizens. Al-Kayyal added, “This survey tells us that Syrians have given the political and economic structures a rare opportunity to be re-established on the foundations of law and equality among citizens.”

The analysts at Investimate also noted that the data reflects a growing segment of Syrians seeking a public sphere that protects the freedom of belief, the right to differ, and equal opportunities free from discrimination.

In conclusion, the survey findings present a complex yet clear picture of public sentiment in Syria one year after liberation. The majority of respondents believe that the country is moving in the right direction and express confidence in official institutions. However, the survey also highlights the need for more precise and equitable policies to address regional variations and promote a more cohesive society.
