LONDON, 25th November 2025: Lightspeed Commerce Inc., a leading omnichannel platform for retail, golf, and hospitality businesses operating in over 100 countries, has announced the beta launch of three new tools within their Lightspeed Restaurant platform. These tools, called Lightspeed Tempo, Lightspeed Tasks, and Lightspeed Reservations, are designed to empower restaurateurs to drive efficiency, optimize guest experiences with data-driven insights, and improve communication and coordination between front and back-of-house operations.
The new suite of tools aims to help operators maintain a consistent standard across multiple locations, anticipate customer expectations, manage service flow, and increase footfall. With Lightspeed’s latest innovations, operators can stay at the forefront of the industry and meet the evolving demands of their customers.
One of the new tools, Lightspeed Tempo, addresses the issue of slow service, which can lead to lost customers and revenue. According to recent statistics, approximately 20% of UK diners have left a restaurant without eating due to slow service, and 75% consider service pace to be a crucial factor in their dining experience. Lightspeed Tempo provides operators with an intuitive dashboard of insights to optimize service timing, increase table turnover, and deliver a seamless dining experience. Future updates will integrate Tempo with the POS and Kitchen Display System (KDS), providing real-time table status updates and kitchen pacing.
Lightspeed Tasks is another new tool that helps operators run consistent operations across one or multiple locations. It provides a digital checklist for tasks such as opening and closing duties, cleaning protocols, and more. These tasks can be assigned to staff members and completed via the Lightspeed Pulse app on their mobile devices. With real-time completion logs and urgent item notifications, management can have peace of mind knowing that operations are running smoothly.
The third tool, Lightspeed Reservations, aims to streamline the booking and table management process for independent restaurants. With only 11% of Brits reporting that they rarely or never book a table when eating out, and 46% preferring restaurants that offer online booking, Lightspeed Reservations provides a cost-effective and user-friendly solution. Restaurateurs can improve the guest experience and reduce no-shows with automated reminders and the option to take deposits, maximizing revenue opportunities.
Liam Crooks, Managing Director of EMEA Hospitality at Lightspeed, commented on the new launches, stating, “As we approach the busiest season in the hospitality industry, we recognize the ongoing challenges faced by operators, such as staff shortages and increased costs. With 44% of UK diners citing consistency as a crucial factor when dining out, our latest innovations were specifically designed to help restaurateurs streamline operations and provide actionable insights. This allows them to focus on what matters most: delivering an exceptional guest experience and retaining footfall during the busy festive season and beyond.”
