London, UK – A new mobile app from Debt Free Advice aims to make seeking debt advice easier and more private for the millions of UK adults who are struggling with financial issues. The app, launched to coincide with Talk Money Week 2025, connects users to FCA-regulated advisers through live voice or video calls, with the option to replay the session for ongoing support.
According to recent data, around 8.1 million UK adults, or 15% of the adult population, are in need of debt advice, with an additional 12.6 million, or 24%, at risk of needing help. However, less than half of those who need debt advice actually seek it, highlighting the need for accessible and confidential support.
Debt Free Advice, a coalition of charities including Toynbee Hall, Citizens Advice, law centres, and independent advice agencies, supported 24,500 people last year alone, securing £36.5 million in financial gains. The new Debt Free Advice App, the first of its kind in the UK, aims to reach even more people and help them take the vital first step towards tackling debt and improving their financial wellbeing.
The app’s launch aligns with the theme of Talk Money Week 2025, “Start the Conversation”, which promotes open discussions about money and reducing the stigma surrounding financial issues. It offers free, impartial, and FCA-regulated debt advice, along with practical learning tools, to help users better manage their finances.
Matt Dronfield, Managing Director of Debt Free Advice, highlighted the importance of starting the conversation about money and seeking help when needed. He stated, “With our app, taking that first step is as simple as opening your phone. You can speak to a real adviser within seconds and revisit the session whenever you need. Sometimes hearing it again makes all the difference.”
The Debt Free Advice App is free to download from both the App Store and Google Play Store. Its discreet design and intuitive features allow users to seek help privately, anytime and anywhere. This is a crucial aspect, as the average debt supported through the service now exceeds £16,000 per person.
The app is an extension of Debt Free Advice’s award-winning Video Advice Kiosk network, which won Best Service Delivery Innovation at the Third Sector Awards 2024.

It also offers replayable advice sessions for ongoing support, short guides and videos on common debt issues, and a discreet and user-friendly design for privacy and accessibility.
