“Rai Makes a Strong Comeback After 1 Year Hiatus – 7th February 2024 Re-Opening”

London’s popular restaurant RAI is set to reopen after being closed for a year, with Executive Chef Padam Raj Rai and Director Shrabaneswor Rai at the helm. The duo, who have received critical acclaim for their work at Hot Stone and Kibako Restaurant, will now be serving their exceptional dishes at a new location in Bloomsbury, just a 4-minute walk from Tottenham Court Road Station. The highly anticipated grand opening of RAI will take place on February 7th.

RAI’s new location boasts a main floor with only 5 tables, allowing for a maximum of 10 guests to enjoy their seasonal tasting menus. The restaurant also features a separate sushi counter, seating up to 8 guests, where guests can choose from a la carte sushi or opt for the omakase sushi set menus starting at £75, making RAI the most affordable Omakase in London.

With over 22 years of experience in renowned Japanese restaurants such as Nobu and Sake no Hana, Chef Padam’s tasting menus showcase the history and evolution of Japanese cuisine while highlighting the finest and meticulously sourced ingredients. The focus on seasonal and high-quality produce is evident in RAI’s masterful dishes, which combine Japanese influences with unique ingredients from the UK and around the world. The multi-course menu, served omakase-style, features the highest-grade Hyōgo Prefecture Kobe and A5 Kagoshima wagyu beef, Sanpuku nori from Japan’s Ariake Sea, Koshihikari rice, and rare aged soy sauces that have been aged for up to 38 years in 100-year-old cedar barrels.

Some of the dishes on RAI’s tasting menu include homemade tofu and natto gyoza served with traditional dashi broth, Ikijime seabass with yuzu beurre blanc and kombu and citrus oil, hand-dived Scottish scallops with yuzu, shisho pesto, and British caviar, and unagi and ethical foie gras with English truffle. The menu also features expertly crafted sushi and sashimi dishes made with the freshest seafood, koshihikari rice, and sanpuku nori, accompanied by aged soy sauces and freshly grated Japanese wasabi.

The tranquil Japanese garden interior of RAI adds to the dining experience, transporting guests to a different world. Whether guests opt for the inventive tasting menu or prefer a more traditional and classic sushi counter experience, Chef Padam and his skilled team will ensure a magical dining experience with their unmatched love, care, and skill.

RAI is open 5 days a week, with the tasting menu priced at £130 per person. Those looking for a more casual meal or excellent classic sushi can also enjoy the 8-seater sushi counter, which offers some of the best sushi in London without breaking the bank.
