Raeon Ltd, a specialist in tailored battery systems for niche applications, has announced the launch of its latest facility—a state-of-the-art Test and Validation Centre—at MIRA Technology Park in Nuneaton.
This strategic expansion builds upon Raeon’s existing operations in Oxfordshire, significantly broadening its capabilities to support complete in-house battery testing and validation for industrial and specialist vehicle markets.
The new centre is equipped to handle a wide range of rigorous testing protocols, including high-altitude simulation, thermal shock, high-current cycling, temperature extremes, humidity testing, charge/discharge analysis, and the evaluation of active cooling performance.
This facility underpins Raeon’s vision of supplying high-specification, made-to-order battery systems for a wide variety of use cases—from defence and automotive to marine, motorsport, warehousing, drones, robotics, eVTOL aircraft, and off-highway equipment.
“We are incredibly grateful for MIRA’s support in opening this new site,” said Murray Schofield, CEO & CTO of Raeon Ltd. “This expansion is a crucial step in our mission to make custom batteries accessible and justifiable for a wider range of industries, not just the highest volume applications. Our proprietary FloLock™ technology, combined with AI-driven design, allows us to deliver custom batteries at significantly lower costs and up to 80% faster than traditional solutions, with prototype batteries delivered within 12 weeks.”
Historically, the creation of bespoke battery packs for low-volume markets has been costly and slow. Raeon addresses these challenges through its cutting-edge manufacturing techniques, including resin encapsulation and dual-layer bus bars, which allow the company to rapidly scale production and accommodate varying battery geometries.
This level of design agility is key to accelerating the transition to electrification across industries often overlooked in mainstream EV development.
Raeon’s new Test and Validation Centre will streamline the approval and compliance process for its tailored battery systems, shortening delivery times and improving time-to-market for its customers.
Raeon was founded in May 2023 by three engineers who had previously worked together at Arrival where they were instrumental in the design, validation and production of the battery modules for all Arrival and Charge vehicles.
