Polycote, one of the UK’s foremost manufacturers and suppliers of industrial floor paints and coatings, has announced an exciting collaboration with acclaimed British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori MBE for the large-scale installation Walk With Your Dreams at Milton Keynes Station Square.
Commissioned by the Milton Keynes Development Partnership (MKDP) and the City Council, the striking public artwork was unveiled on 2 October 2025. Spanning more than 3,000 square metres, the installation’s kaleidoscopic design celebrates the city’s cultural diversity and forward-looking spirit.
Polycote’s advanced flooring technology was instrumental in realising Ilori’s creative vision. The company’s Quick Coat EP epoxy system was chosen for its exceptional durability and rapid drying properties — both crucial for such a high-traffic public area. In total, 6,400kg of Quick Coat EP in 13 custom colours and 936kg of OT Floor Primer were used to achieve the vivid and resilient surface.
To safeguard the artwork against vandalism, Polycote supplied 730kg of its Graffitex anti-graffiti coating. This water-based protective layer allows for the easy removal of graffiti without damaging the mural beneath, preserving its beauty for years to come.
“As a family-run business with 35 years of history serving the Milton Keynes area, contributing to a project of this significance in our local community is a proud moment for our team,” said Clayton Britchford, General Manager.
The installation was applied by Shier Coatings, approved Polycote installers renowned for their expertise in commercial paint spraying and epoxy flooring. Their skill and attention to detail ensured a flawless finish using both the Quick Coat EP and Graffitex systems.
