Pavegen Powers Climate Action with Interactive London Installations and New Crowdfunding Campaign

Last Updated on: 24th June 2025, 04:13 pm

  • Pavegen unveils major crowdfunding push to boost AI and solar across its cleantech portfolio

  • Three interactive energy-generating experiences live during London Climate Action Week and Wimbledon

  • Goal to plant a forest equal in size to Centre Court and offset approximately 1,000 tonnes of CO₂

Pavegen, the globally celebrated cleantech pioneer, has launched three public-facing activations in London, alongside the announcement of its newest crowdfunding campaign.

Entitled “Step Up for Climate Change”, the initiative features Pavegen’s unique kinetic technology at 22 Bishopsgate, Old Spitalfields Market and Wimbledon, converting pedestrian footfall into renewable energy. In partnership with Evergreen, Pavegen will plant one tree for every 200 steps generated, with a bold target to create a forest the size of Wimbledon Centre Court and significantly reduce carbon emissions.

The installations encourage Londoners — from city workers to tourists and tennis fans — to be part of the climate solution, with each step powering clean electricity and contributing to reforestation efforts.

Each site includes:

  • Kinetic energy floor tiles that generate power from footsteps

  • A live LED display and data dashboard showcasing the energy created and number of trees pledged

  • Campaign visuals and digital storytelling to illustrate collective climate impact

  • QR codes giving access to live maps and crowdfunding details

  • Tree planting conducted in emerging markets via Evertreen

Alongside the installations, Pavegen is opening its latest crowdfunding round to accelerate its role in the growing smart cities sector — projected to hit $4.76 trillion globally by 2030. Funding will enhance its Agentic AI platform and drive further international adoption, especially in Giga projects across the Middle East, and new developments in Asia and the United States.

“Our mission has always been to transform how our cities harness renewable energy and empower communities through the power of a human footstep…”
Laurence Kemball-Cook, CEO and Founder, Pavegen

Investors will join a strong network that includes major institutions like Hinduja Group and Tamar Capital, as well as an impressive client base such as Google, Siemens, Saudi Aramco, the NFL, and governments across the US and Saudi Arabia.

The crowdfund opens to the public via Crowdcube from 30th June to 14th July, with priority early access from 25th June at:
