Parkopedia and NIO Collaborate to Deliver Smart On-Street Parking to European Drivers

• All current European NIO vehicles to benefit from new on-street parking functionality
• Navigation update through NIO App Store to activate Parkopedia’s parking data in the coming days
• Feature includes real-time parking availability, rates, restrictions and more

Parkopedia and NIO have entered into a strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing parking convenience for NIO drivers throughout Europe. This integration brings trusted Parkopedia data into the hands of users via in-vehicle systems, making the search for on-street parking less stressful and more efficient.

Demand for integrated digital services in vehicles continues to rise, with global surveys indicating that 92% of drivers face parking challenges, and 77% would like their cars to include built-in parking assistance. NIO is tapping into this trend as it continues to grow at pace, boasting a near 50% year-on-year increase in sales and set to exceed 750,000 cumulative deliveries this month.

The new functionality—dubbed ‘On-Street Parking’—lets drivers view parking availability in real time, right from their navigation screen. The system highlights streets using colour codes: darker blue means more likely availability, while lighter blue suggests fewer open spots.

Drivers can also access in-depth information on parking zones, including hourly pricing, applicable restrictions, and payment methods, all of which help to optimise journey planning and reduce the stress typically associated with urban parking. The features will be delivered through the ‘Banyan 2.4.1’ software update, arriving shortly across all NIO models in Europe.

Distributed wirelessly via a navigation app update on the new NIO App Store, the software upgrade also includes enriched in-car services—real-time parking reports, new POIs, smarter driver assistance, enhanced voice commands, improved media streaming, and a refreshed app interface.

Markus Dohl, VP Europe at Parkopedia, commented:
“Finding available parking across Europe can be a stressful process, so we are pleased to empower NIO in providing a seamless in-car parking experience for its European drivers. Taking the stress out of the parking process and improving the driving experience requires extensive, high-quality base data, and this is why Parkopedia prides itself on only providing unparalleled complete and verified data.”
