Omnitronics, recognised worldwide for its vendor-neutral radio interoperability and dispatch technologies, has announced an expansion to its product portfolio with fresh integration options for Kenwood radios and systems. The move highlights the company’s ongoing mission to enable seamless communications across multi-vendor radio networks.
With the newest firmware release, the Omnitronics DRG100 Digital Radio Gateway now supports serial integration for Kenwood NX-5000 series mobile radios. These radios operate in several modes, including DMR Tier 2 Conventional, NXDN Conventional, and Analogue, providing users with improved flexibility for their communication systems.
The DRG100 AIS firmware has also been successfully trialled with the Kenwood NXR1000 repeater running in DMR Tier 2 Conventional mode, and the Kenwood KTI-2500, which functions with a unique DMR ‘Tier 2.5’ configuration. Omnitronics further confirmed that integration with Kenwood’s NXIP Gen1 protocol is in progress and will be launched soon.
Interoperability testing at the Kenwood Test Lab in Dallas, Texas, in June validated the DRG100 across its supported protocols. The results confirm that Kenwood radios can now be effectively incorporated into the Omnitronics ecosystem for dispatch operations and cross-network communications.
This development enables organisations to link Kenwood NX-5000 radios with Omnitronics’ dispatch solutions as well as with third-party vendor systems. The DRG100 may be used as a bridging tool during migration projects or as a permanent interoperability platform, offering unmatched adaptability.
John Jordan, CEO of Omnitronics, said: “At Omnitronics, we’re proud to continue leading the way in vendor-agnostic radio interoperability. The expansion of our DRG100 Digital Radio Gateway to support Kenwood NX-5000 series and other key models marks a significant milestone in our commitment to seamless communication across diverse radio networks. This integration empowers our customers with greater flexibility, reliability, and futureproofing for their mission-critical operations. We’re excited about the possibilities this opens up for organizations using Kenwood radios, and we remain dedicated to delivering innovative, interoperable solutions that connect people when it matters most.”
