Birmingham, UK – In an exciting development for the fuel distribution industry, Headpoint Advisors has successfully advised the shareholders of Pinnock Brothers Limited on the sale of their company. The historic, fourth-generation family fuel distributor has been acquired by AIM-listed NWF Group Plc.
The deal, which was completed in April 2025, marks a significant milestone in the consolidation of the UK’s fragmented fuel market. It also highlights NWF Fuels’ strategic expansion in southern England.
Pinnock Brothers, a Berkshire-based business with a rich legacy spanning over 150 years, brings with it a loyal customer base and strategically located depots in Thatcham and Kintbury. This will further strengthen NWF Group’s Fuels division, which already delivers over 650 million litres of fuel annually from its headquarters in Nantwich.
Andrew Pinnock, former owner of Pinnock Brothers, expressed his gratitude to Headpoint for their invaluable support and guidance throughout the sale process. He also acknowledged the Headpoint team for providing the courage to see the deal through to completion.
Mark Wilson, Partner at Headpoint Advisors, commented on the privilege of being entrusted to advise on the sale of a highly respected, fourth-generation family business with a deep connection to its communities. He also expressed delight in helping to secure a deal that preserves the Pinnock family’s legacy and delivers a successful outcome for all parties involved.
This is not the first time Headpoint has advised in the oil distribution space. The firm also played a crucial role in the earlier sale of Oxfordshire-based Sweetfuels to NWF, cementing their reputation as the go-to advisor for family-owned businesses in this evolving sector.
The Headpoint deal team consisted of Mark Wilson, Oliver Stephens, and Joseph Lowe. Legal and tax advice for the shareholders was provided by Graham Spalding, Nicola Vernan, and Lee Thompson of Lodders Solicitors LLP, Lisa Stevenson of Parisi Tax LLP, and Chris Davies and Sarah Lee at UHY Ross Brooke.
NWF received counsel from CEO Chris Belsham, supported by Dave Walmsley, Managing Director of NWF Fuels, and Amar Bilal Anwar. Legal representation was provided by Rupert Gill and the team at Brabners, with additional support from Ros Jones of Dow Schofield Watts.
