Motel One’s Expansion and Revenue Soar in Q2 2025 Half-Year Report

Munich-based hotel group, Motel One, continues to see significant growth in all aspects of their business – internationally, conceptually, and economically. In the first half of 2025, the company saw a 7.5% increase in revenue, reaching €486 million. Additionally, Motel One’s hotel portfolio has expanded to 134 hotels with nearly 38,000 rooms, showing a strong commitment to their European expansion strategy.

The group’s lifestyle brand, The Cloud One Hotels, has also seen remarkable growth, doubling its portfolio from three to six properties compared to the previous year. This brand appeals to travelers seeking a design-focused atmosphere and unique ambiance, with locations in New York, Hamburg, Gdańsk, and Prague. With a total of 55 hotels now operating outside of Germany, Motel One has seen a six-location increase year-on-year, and the proportion of international rooms in their secured portfolio has risen to 40%.

In July, Motel One opened their latest property in Paris – Porte de Versailles, further expanding their urban presence in Europe. The group is also planning to open another Motel One property in Vienna’s Donau City and make their first entry into the Portuguese market with The Cloud One Lisbon. Both properties are set to open in 2025, with Co-CEO Stefan Lenze stating, “Travel to Europe’s cities is back, and our hotels are the perfect place for it: central, stylish, and affordable.”

Despite the absence of major events such as the European Football Championship and international trade fairs, which boosted last year’s results, Motel One has shown financial resilience. In the second quarter, cumulative revenue increased by 7.5% to €486 million, while occupancy remained stable at 69%. The company also saw an improvement in revenue per available room, reaching €96.

Lenze commented, “Our brand proves its appeal even without major events – that’s a genuine stress test we have passed with flying colors.” Founded in 2000, Motel One has won multiple awards for its concept and is considered the pioneer of the budget design hotel category. With 100 hotels currently operating in 13 countries, the company is known for its unique combination of fair prices, stylish design, and first-class comfort. In 2022, Motel One launched its second lifestyle brand, The Cloud One Hotels.
