Lite Jam Launches Innovative LED Smart Guitar for Musicians via Kickstarter

Last Updated on: 5th August 2025, 06:32 am

Lite Jam is redefining how people learn guitar with the launch of its LED Smart Guitar, now open for pre-orders on Kickstarter from only $1.

The instrument comes equipped with 150 seamlessly embedded LED lights in the fretboard to show players exactly where to place their fingers.

Thanks to a USB-C front port, the LEDs are rechargeable in just one hour, offering up to five hours of continuous use.

The companion app—available for free on Apple and Android platforms—is Bluetooth enabled and packed with resources including lessons, jam tracks, and performance effects. It will remain free forever, with no hidden fees or future paywalls.

Lite Jam offers four playing modes, with future functionality updates on the roadmap:

  • Chord Mode: Colour-coded LEDs help users differentiate fingers—Red for the first finger, Green for the second, Blue for the third, and Yellow for the fourth. White signals an open string, and no light indicates a muted string. There are 10 chord variations per key, along with options for custom chord layouts and arpeggios.

  • Scale Mode: With 22 available scale types, players can explore any key. Red LEDs highlight root notes while blue lights mark other playable tones. A chromatic practice mode and metronome are also included.

  • Perform Mode: Ideal for live sets, users can programme custom lighting patterns or activate real-time sound-to-light effects that pulse with the music.

  • Tuner Mode: The guitar features built-in chromatic tuning, using LED indicators directly on the fretboard.

Lite Jam is tailored for a wide audience—from beginners and music tutors to gigging musicians and social media content creators—offering a practical and creative tool that cuts down on screen time while maximising learning.

For novices, the illuminated fretboard provides an easy and intuitive way to get started. For seasoned players, it’s a way to break creative boundaries and expand their repertoire without needing to glance at external screens.

The concept was a hit at the NAMM Show, drawing the admiration of well-known guitar personalities like Paul Davids, Jason from Chibson USA, and Ryan Burke of 60 Cycle Hum.

Early supporters can reserve the guitar now for only $1 and unlock a VIP reward saving them $180 off the projected retail price of $479.

Lite Jam founder and inventor Apisak Arpajamjarat says: “I always wanted to create an instrument with embedded LED lights that would demonstrate chords and scales, making it easier to learn or improve basic skills.”

Backers will receive:
  • 1x Lite Jam Smart Guitar
  • Lifetime access to the Lite Jam App
  •  USB-C cable, gig bag, and Quick Start Guide
  •  Mass production is planned for Q4 2025, with global shipping starting shortly afterwards.
