A Free Tool Marking Event hosted by ITS Chelmsford has given local tradespeople valuable protection against the escalating threat of tool theft. Those attending received a free SelectaDNA Tool Marking Kit worth £60, a police-approved system designed to identify and return stolen items to their rightful owners.
The initiative was delivered alongside Stolen Tools UK, the fast-growing online campaign that is spearheading the fight against tool theft. The effort also drew strong support from Shoib Anwan, better known as “The Gas Expert”, who continues to raise the profile of the issue at a national scale.
Shoib has been pivotal in confronting the sale of stolen equipment at car boot sales and in pushing the subject into parliamentary debate, highlighting the need for stronger action.
At the core of the initiative is SelectaDNA’s cutting-edge marking liquid, which contains a unique DNA code. This makes it possible to prove ownership beyond doubt and dramatically improves the likelihood of stolen items being recovered.
On the day, Essex Police lent their backing by attending the event, underlining the importance of proactive solutions in protecting tradespeople and reducing crime levels.
