Press Release: TypeTogether Announces Futura®100 Typeface Family in Celebration of 100th Anniversary
Prague, Czech Republic, 15 September, 2025 – TypeTogether, an independent type foundry, is proud to announce the release of Futura®100 – a comprehensive typeface family that pays tribute to Paul Renner’s iconic Futura® typeface on its centennial anniversary. This project features 23 global scripts and showcases the expertise of TypeTogether’s international team in the fields of type design, typography, linguistics, semantics, and graphic design.
The two-year project involved extensive research and collaboration with Bauer Types type foundry to accurately revive and honor Renner’s original intention with the design. “When I examined the original Futura® letterpress prints at six point size, the experience profoundly changed my perception of the family because I was struck by how beautiful and legible the typeface was,” said Veronika Burian, co-founder and type director at TypeTogether.
While staying true to the constructed shapes and warm spirit of the original typeface, Futura®100 also aims to reflect global language and script diversity. It supports 23 scripts and provides language support for over 90% of the world’s population. The typeface has been optimized for readability, worldwide usability, and flexibility across various devices and media.
The project is divided into two phases. The first phase, which is already complete, includes support for scripts such as Arabic, Armenian, Cyrillic, Georgian, Greek, Hebrew, Khmer, Lao, Latin, Myanmar, PanAfrican Latin, and Thai. The second phase, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026, will include support for major Indic scripts, Simplified Chinese, and Hangul. With this extensive coverage, Futura®100 will become one of the few truly global typefaces, making it a perfect fit for designers, agencies, and brands with multinational commitments.
