International Animal Rescue is hosting an exciting event to raise funds for animals in need. The charity is inviting both individuals and businesses to participate in the Abseil for Animals 2026, a thrilling abseil experience at Peacehaven Cliffs.
Taking place on Saturday, September 26th, this event is in anticipation of World Animal Day at the beginning of October. Participants will have the opportunity to abseil 115ft down the iconic chalk cliffs of Peacehaven, with the help of professional instructors.
Not only is this event a chance for individuals to challenge themselves and bond with their colleagues, but it also serves as a unique team-building experience. By stepping out of the office and into the great outdoors, colleagues can develop important skills and build stronger relationships in a supportive and fun environment. This can have a positive impact on employee mental health and wellbeing.
International Animal Rescue is offering allocated time slots for corporate groups to participate in the abseil together, allowing them to support and motivate each other. Businesses can choose to match employee fundraising totals, set a group target, or even host a competition between teams and departments.
Alan Knight OBE, President of International Animal Rescue, says, “Having your colleagues next to you, cheering you on and taking on the same challenge really brings you together. It’s about trust, support, and celebrating your achievements together.”
Phily Day, a previous participant in the abseil, adds, “Doing the abseil really improved my mental health and wellbeing. It was nerve-wracking standing over the edge of that cliff but once I went I knew I could do it. It made me think about how many things in life are mind over matter. When I reached the bottom, I felt such a sense of achievement.”
Participants are required to pay a registration fee of £15 and are encouraged to raise a minimum of £125 through sponsorship. The charity will provide an official International Animal Rescue T-shirt for all participants on the day of the event. The team will also be there to offer support and encouragement throughout the abseil.
All funds raised by participants will go towards International Animal Rescue’s crucial work around the world. The charity partners with community projects to rescue animals from suffering, provide veterinary care and rehabilitation, and protect endangered wildlife and their habitats.
