Gerrards Cross Community Association (GXCA) has announced the return of its highly anticipated Summer School, which will take place from July 28th to August 8th, 2025 at The Memorial Centre, East Common, Gerrards Cross. This year marks the 41st year of the event, making it the largest charity-run summer school in Buckinghamshire.
Under the leadership of Professor Marcia Bell, Chair of the Board of Trustees of GXCA, the 2025 Summer School promises to be an enriching opportunity for adults to enhance their personal skills and knowledge in a relaxed yet engaging setting.
“Each year, we welcome over 700 adult learners who are eager to learn new skills and gain knowledge from our expert and engaging tutors,” said Professor Bell. “With courses accessible to all levels, the Summer School is a fantastic opportunity for lifelong learners from all backgrounds to explore new hobbies, upgrade their knowledge, and engage with like-minded individuals.”
The two-week Summer School will feature 60 sessions designed to cater to diverse interests. Participants can choose from a wide range of one-day courses and workshops, including arts and crafts, digital literacy, and history. With specialist lectures and a supportive learning environment, attendees will have the chance to immerse themselves in subjects that foster growth, creativity, and self-confidence.
Some highlights of the Summer School include Zentangle, linocut, botanical illustration, silk painting, and crochet in the crafts category, digital photography, iPad use, and exploring AI in the digital skills category, and discovering the stories of Ireland and archaeology of the Mediterranean in the history category. Special interest courses such as bridge, Chiltern wildlife, and first aid will also be available.
In addition to the educational opportunities, GXCA provides a perfect setting for relaxation and socializing, allowing attendees to enjoy a balanced and fulfilling experience. As spaces are limited, early registration is recommended.
