On Friday 19 December, 2025, Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s leading music-based entertainment company, announced a collaboration with Splice, the world’s most popular music creation platform. The two companies will work together to explore the next generation of AI-powered music creation tools for artists.
The partnership between UMG and Splice will focus on developing commercial AI tools that prioritize creative control and sonic excellence. This artist-centric agreement builds upon Splice’s existing suite of AI-enabled creator tools, which prioritize intellectual property and combine high-quality creative ingredients.
By bringing together the world’s leading home for artists and the widely used music creation platform, UMG and Splice aim to create advanced commercial AI tools that can accurately and faithfully express an artist’s creative vision.
The partnership also includes plans to explore AI-powered virtual instruments and tools that will allow UMG artists to incorporate their own sounds into Splice’s AI workflows. This collaboration will involve UMG artists in the product development process, ensuring that the tools created are tailored to their needs.
