Callie and ADT Launch New App to Help People Feel Safer When Walking Alone

A new study by the ONS has revealed that the majority of people feel unsafe walking alone. In response, personal safety solution Callie has been launched to help people feel more connected and confident when they are alone.

Callie is a free app that allows users to create temporary ‘sessions’ that are shared with those they trust. These sessions can be used for a variety of activities such as dates, commutes and nights out. While a session is live, the user’s trusted ‘guardians’ can see where the user is, what the session is for, and how long it’s expected to take. Additionally, if the user fails to check in as safe before the session ends, an alert will be automatically sent to the user’s chosen guardians.

In addition to its free plan, Callie also offers a premium safety monitoring service that is powered by security experts ADT. ADT’s agents are trained to provide users with support should an alarm be triggered.

Callie has been received positively by the public, with many citing its ability to provide a sense of security and freedom. The app has been especially popular with students, parents, and couples who appreciate the peace of mind and safety it offers without feeling like they are being tracked.

The app was built from the ground up by lone worker safety brand Safepoint and was supported by the Growth Through Innovation Fund and the European Regional Development Fund.

The Callie app is available to download for free on iOS and Android. For more information about the ADT-powered CalliePlus package, or the upcoming safety bracelet, visit getcallie.com.
