Bystronic Completes Acquisition of Coherent Corp.’s Tools for Materials Processing Division and Revives Rofin Brand

Niederönz, Switzerland / Gilching, Germany – Bystronic, a global leader in sheet metal and material processing solutions, announced on Monday, February 2, 2026 that it has successfully completed the acquisition of Coherent Corp.’s Tools for Materials Processing division. With this acquisition, Bystronic aims to expand into new and attractive growth markets such as medical technology, semiconductors, and general manufacturing. Additionally, Bystronic’s portfolio will be broadened to include new laser applications such as micro material processing, marking, engraving, and drilling.

The acquisition also grants Bystronic the rights to the renowned Rofin brand, which will now operate as part of the newly formed “Bystronic Rofin” business unit.

Bystronic Rofin’s versatile laser technologies allow for the processing of a wide range of materials, including metal, glass, ceramics, polymers, and organic materials. This broad spectrum of applications and materials will provide new opportunities for research and development.

Domenico Iacovelli, CEO of Bystronic, warmly welcomes all customers, partners, and colleagues of the company to the newly formed Bystronic Rofin division. The profitable Bystronic Rofin business unit, with approximately 400 employees, has achieved annual sales of around USD 100 million in recent years. Its headquarters are located in Gilching, near Munich.
