Avango Couriers, a Greater Manchester-based transport specialist, has officially launched their new Delivery Management System (DMS) after twelve months of development and six months of successful live testing. The system is designed to connect commercial clients directly with independent operators, cutting out corporate middle-men and providing substantial savings for businesses.
Under the traditional logistics model, major courier brands secure corporate contracts and then auction those jobs off to smaller, independent operators through private digital “load boards”. Avango Couriers Founder and Managing Director, Stuart Drinkwater, explains, “The public sees a famous logo, but behind the scenes, the job is frequently sold to the lowest bidder in a reverse-auction system. The major players pocket a massive, hidden margin simply for acting as an intermediary.” Avango Couriers has been on the receiving end of many sub-contract bookings for years, but their new DMS changes this dynamic by giving control and savings back to the businesses moving the goods.
One of the key features of the Avango DMS is its ability to provide customers with full control and visibility over the identity of the driver collecting and delivering their goods. This is made possible through a strict Digital ID Security Protocol, which verifies the driver’s name, headshot, and photos of their vehicle and registration number. Customers are also able to shortlist their preferred drivers and block those they do not wish to work with. If the arriving asset or driver does not match the system profile, clients are instructed to withhold freight.
Avango’s new platform is backed by their sister platform, Couriers TV, which is dedicated to championing the independent driving community. Along with sourcing drivers, Couriers TV also serves as a vital hub for independent operators, connecting them with industry products, specialized insurance, and business services to help them succeed in their delivery work. “We don’t just want to offer drivers work; we want to help them succeed long-term,” says Drinkwater.
Avango Couriers’ new DMS is set to disrupt the traditional logistics model and provide substantial benefits for businesses and independent operators alike. The system is now live and ready for use by commercial clients across the UK.
