Boulderflash, a UK-based climbing retailer, has unveiled its first dedicated shop inside The Tide Climbing Centre in Padstow, Cornwall. The move marks a new direction for the sport, with a leading online supplier now offering its products in a climbing facility.
The new shop showcases popular climbing shoe brands such as Scarpa, Unparallel, Red Chili, Tenaya and Evolv. Customers can also browse an extensive selection of training tools from Lattice Training and YY Vertical, alongside a curated range of climbing accessories and gift items.
Blending the breadth and pricing of an online retailer with the immediacy of in-gym shopping, Boulderflash enables climbers to purchase footwear, training aids and gear at the venue where they train. This approach helps independent climbing centres, which may lack the capacity to hold diverse stock at competitive prices, by giving their climbers greater choice without the expense of managing a full retail operation.
Founder Mitch Singer said: “Independent climbing centres often can’t stock a full range of products at competitive prices. Our goal is to change that by blending the online and offline experience, giving climbers access to more gear where they climb.”
If the pilot location proves popular, Boulderflash aims to expand the concept to other climbing centres across the country, further supporting local climbing communities by improving access to quality equipment and reinvesting in the sport’s development.
