ACAA to Hold Conference on Arts, Culture, and Humanitarian Issues in Afghanistan
Feltham, UK – The Afghanistan and Central Asian Association (ACAA) will be hosting a two-day conference to commemorate the four-year anniversary of the fall of Kabul. The event will take place at the Griffin Centre’s Ferdowsi Hall on August 15 and 16, 2025.
The conference aims to highlight the cultural and humanitarian challenges faced by Afghanistan. The first day will feature cultural programs showcasing Afghan music, poetry, and visual arts. This will serve as a platform for newly arrived Afghan diaspora members to connect with established communities in the UK and Europe.
On the second day, the focus will shift to the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. There will be panel discussions and a roundtable session on diaspora-led support and international cooperation. The speakers will include representatives from the Afghan diaspora, UK policymakers, civil society leaders, academics, journalists, and international organizations. Dr. Nooralhaq Nasimi MBE HonDSS, the founder and chief executive of ACAA, will also provide reflections during the roundtable session.
The panel topics will include “Arts and Culture as a Bridge to Unity,” “Understanding Local Needs: Voices from Afghanistan and the Diaspora,” and “The Afghan Humanitarian Crisis and Diaspora Engagement.” The roundtable will focus on collaboration between diaspora organizations and humanitarian agencies, as well as policy advocacy in support of Afghanistan.
The conference is sponsored by Diaspora Emergency Danish Action & Coordination (DEMAC), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Attendees will also be treated to free Afghan food and music.
