Yorkshire-based independent fuel card distributor, Right Fuel Card, has increased its workforce by 10% with the launch of its first sales apprenticeship scheme, welcoming ten apprentices into the Leeds sales team.

The company, which was founded in 2011, has ambitious growth plans following its relocation to Leeds City Centre last year, and is investing heavily in team learning and development through 2023.

The ten apprentices will sit within the sales team, and undertake an initial programme of training with Training Manager, Joe Robinson, to gain valuable insight into the fuel card industry. Sales Manager Alina Morosanu will mentor and support the new recruits throughout their 18-month apprenticeship, following which they will receive a level four sales qualification, providing opportunities to further develop their sales careers.

With the help of recruitment agency, Pareto, applicants were invited to attend a sales assessment day which involved group activities to assess their negotiation skills. The final stage of this interview process required each candidate to give a sales pitch on why they were right for the role.

Commenting on the appointment, Domenico Mariconda, CEO at Right Fuel Card said: “We’re thrilled to welcome ten new recruits to the Right Fuel Card team, as they start their career journey with us. We’re excited to have a host of fresh talent on the sales force, and can’t wait to see them progress through their 18 month apprenticeships.

“We have ambitious growth plans for this year and beyond, after moving to our Leeds city centre office last year, team learning and development is a top priority for us, both upskilling and training our current team members and welcoming new talented employees as we expand.

“We’re delighted to be able to offer apprenticeships, they’re such a valuable route into every industry and we’re happy we can provide these opportunities for ten passionate individuals, following a fantastic experience with our current HR and Marketing apprentices.”

On their new role, Alice MacFarlane, apprentice at Right Fuel Card says: “I’m so excited to be joining the Right Fuel Card team along with nine other apprentices. I can’t wait to see where this journey over the next 18 months takes us, and I’m looking forward to learning about the world of sales, fuel cards and the automotive industry and getting stuck in!”
