“X and Bluesky Bid Farewell to DSM Foundation”

Drug education charity, the DSM Foundation, announced today that it will be refining its social media presence by stepping away from platforms X and Bluesky. This decision comes after concerns about the changes made to platform X since it was taken over by Musk, as well as the toxic environment it has become. Founder and director, Fiona Spargo-Mabbs OBE, stated that their decision to stay on the platform has been constantly revisited, but the growing unease and clashes with the charity’s values have led them to finally leave.

However, the charity will continue to maintain its presence on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, as well as its own website at www.dsmfoundation.org.uk.

Established in 2014, the DSM Foundation was created following the death of 16-year-old Daniel Spargo-Mabbs from an accidental overdose of ecstasy. His family recognized a gap in resources and support for schools and set up the charity to prevent other families from experiencing the same tragedy.

The aim of the DSM Foundation is to provide young people with relevant, age-appropriate, and evidence-based information about drugs so they can make informed decisions to keep themselves and their friends safe. Currently, the charity works with almost 750 schools, colleges, and community organizations, providing workshops for parents and caregivers, and training for school staff. The charity also offers a verbatim play, “I Love You Mum, I Promise I Won’t Die,” which tells Daniel’s story through the words of his family and friends.
