Winners of Best of Britain Awards 2018 Announced

Five businesses – one from each region in the UK – have been announced as the winners of the Best of Britain Awards 2018.
The annual awards, launched by business energy price comparison specialists Love Energy Savings, showcases small businesses from across the country that stand out from the crowd. Awards partners and category sponsors include EDF Energy, Opus Energy, British Gas, Scottish Power and Npower.

The winning businesses have been rewarded for going above and beyond for their customers, their outstanding services and overall business ethos. Each winner will receive a £500 cash prize and will be invited to a special prize-giving ceremony and exclusive round table discussion at Bolton-based Love Energy Savings’ headquarters.
Below are the winners and the reasons they were chosen:

Scotland: SESH Hairdressing

Based in Scotland, the salon praises itself on their fully diverse outlook and support for the community.
“We’re proud of our diversity as a salon as well as our inclusive nature and focus on always putting our customers at the forefront of what we do. During our recent refurbishment, we incorporated a somewhat private area off to the right of the main salon to provide clients with a level of privacy and discretion should they require it. We believe this offering sets us apart from many other salons in Scotland and is a representation of our all-encompassing attitude.”

North of England: Fleetwood Market

Fleetwood Market, the 180 year old coastal gem is one of the oldest markets in Lancashire.

“We are fully accessible as everything is on one level, the flat surfaces, wide walkways, automatic doors and accessible parking support our visitors, some of whom may have mobility issues.”

Midlands: Larkfleet Homes

Larkfleet Homes is a housebuilder based in Bourne, Lincolnshire. With over 250 employees they support charities and volunteer groups in the areas where they’re working. It is a vital part of what they do to create sustainable communities.
“At Larkfleet Homes we believe it’s important that when we build new homes for people, we develop robust, living communities as well. We are creating places that residents can be proud of and that, in turn, makes us proud. This revolves around place making and supporting the community. Another source of pride is the support we give to the fantastic charities and volunteer groups in the areas we are working in. It is a vital part of what we do to create sustainable communities.”

South of England:  Harley Therapy Platform ltd

Harley Therapy is a London based counselling company founded in 2006 now they’re on a mission to eliminate emotional suffering worldwide.

“We offer free lunchtime talks and wellbeing brochures to local businesses, charities and schools whose members can benefit from learning about self-care and improving their mental wellbeing. An advocate of living and working green, we started a paperless culture long before it was mainstream. We encourage remote-based working which not only reduces everyone’s carbon footprint but leads to more family-friendly work patterns and ultimately more content and inspired team members.”

Wales:  The Penllergare Trust

The Penllergare Trust is an award-winning local charity which was established to restore and preserve the history, ecology and wildlife of the former Penllergare estate.

“We are preserving and restoring a local green space with a unique history, so that our visitors can enjoy exercise and the scenic beauty of a safe, natural environment, as well as learning about the rich local history. We are proud to have been awarded with a Green Flag for the past 3 years, as well as the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2016 and the WCVA Environment Award in 2017.”

Phil Foster, Managing Director of Love Energy Savings, commented on the announcement of the winners:

“I’d like to congratulate all of the winners, it was an incredibly challenging task to select the Best of Britain winners this year – the standard of entrants was higher than ever before, with more than double the amount of businesses entering than last year.

Across the country we’ve been able to find those unique companies that make a difference, all of them do great work in their communities and we hope that receiving the award gives the winning businesses the recognition they deserve.”
