Users Can Now Utilize Elatec’s Employee Badge on Apple Wallet

Elatec Brings Employee Badge in Apple Wallet to Customers

Munich, April 17, 2024 – Elatec, a leading global provider of user authentication and identification solutions, announced today that it is launching an employee badge in Apple Wallet for its customers. This new feature allows employees or tenants of an organization to easily access locations and devices with a simple tap of their iPhone or Apple Watch. The technology is powered by Elatec’s Mobile Credential Manager software, which works seamlessly with their universal RFID readers, creating a powerful and versatile solution for mobile access.

The employee badge in Apple Wallet offers a convenient and contactless experience for users. Once enabled, employees can securely add their badge to Apple Wallet and use their iPhone or Apple Watch to unlock office doors, turnstiles, elevators, and other key card-protected areas with a quick tap. This eliminates the need to open an app or present a traditional plastic access key.

With Express Mode, employees can use their badge in Apple Wallet without unlocking their device. Even if their iPhone needs to be charged, they can still access their office or amenity spaces with Power Reserve.

Adding an employee badge to Apple Wallet is a simple process, after an initial set-up through the Elatec Access app. Unlike physical cards, there is no wait time for new employees to gain building credentials and access. The Elatec Mobile Credential Manager allows for easy centralized management of passes, including issuing, revoking, and auditing capabilities. Administrators can also manage access permissions in real-time, quickly adapting to changing security needs. The software seamlessly integrates with existing access control hardware from Elatec, ensuring a smooth transition to Apple Wallet passes.

Employee badges in Apple Wallet are stored on the user’s device and take full advantage of the privacy and security features built into iPhone and Apple Watch. When an employee uses their badge in Apple Wallet, it is never shared with Apple or stored on Apple servers. In the case of a misplaced device, the owner can use the Find My app to promptly lock the device and locate it.

Mobile Credentialing Revolutionizes Access Industry

Mobile credentialing is transforming the access industry by providing a more convenient and cost-effective solution for organizations and end-users. Elatec is at the forefront of this shift with their new Mobile Credentialing System for Apple Wallet. The combination of universal readers and mobile credentialing software makes the transition to mobile passes seamless and effortless.

Elatec has been a leader in the transition to mobile access technologies. Their universal TWN4 multi-technology readers support both traditional RFID badges and smartphone-based credentialing systems for iOS using Near-Field Communication (NFC).
