Norfolk Archaeological Trust (NAT) has announced the launch of its new Support Your Site scheme at two of its most renowned heritage sites: St Benet’s Abbey and Caistor Roman Town. This follows the successful introduction of the initiative earlier this month at Tasburgh Enclosure.
The Support Your Site scheme aims to encourage individuals, families, and organizations to become supporters through a small monthly contribution. The funds raised will be directly allocated towards crucial site maintenance, conservation efforts, community involvement, and improvements in visitor experience.
Natalie Butler, Director of NAT, stated: “St Benet’s Abbey and Caistor Roman Town are exceptional places where centuries of history are intertwined into the Norfolk landscape. This new scheme offers people a simple yet meaningful way to contribute to the preservation of these treasured sites. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a significant impact in ensuring that these sites remain accessible and well-maintained for future generations.”
Supporters will receive various benefits, including a biannual supporters’ newsletter, an invitation to the NAT Summer Social, and an annual Director’s Walk & Talk. Their names will also be listed on the NAT website, and after two years of continuous support, they will be eligible for an on-site plaque.
For those looking to gift a membership, Support Your Site can also be purchased as a thoughtful local present for birthdays, Christmas, or other special occasions.
“Our supporters play a crucial role in protecting Norfolk’s heritage,” added Natalie. “We are thrilled to offer a new way for people to deepen their connection with these remarkable landscapes and help us safeguard them for years to come.”
