On Thursday, July 9th, 2026, AMPYR Distributed Energy (ADE) announced the acquisition of a 70MW portfolio of operational commercial and industrial solar assets from TotalEnergies. This transaction marks a significant milestone in ADE’s European growth strategy, signaling their position as a leading investor, owner, and operator of onsite renewable energy solutions.
The acquisition includes 17 operational solar assets located in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the UK, and Iberia, and brings ADE’s total contracted capacity to over 250MW. These assets consist of a diverse mix of ground-mounted, rooftop, and floating solar installations, all backed by long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with established corporate customers.
John Behan, CEO of ADE, expressed the company’s excitement about this strategic move. “This is a significant launchpad for AMPYR Distributed Energy’s pan-European vision, positioning us as a major player in multiple countries. We are also pleased to incorporate Europe’s largest floating solar project dedicated to industrial self-consumption in Belgium as part of this transaction,” he stated.
Behan also emphasized the importance of this acquisition in expanding ADE’s ability to support businesses with multi-site, multi-country energy strategies. “This transaction allows us to offer our customers a single, trusted partner for funding, owning, and operating onsite renewable energy solutions across Europe,” he added.
In a time when European businesses are facing some of the highest energy prices in the world, the value of onsite energy has never been more significant. It provides organizations with greater cost certainty, improved energy resilience, and a practical way to reduce emissions. With this acquisition, ADE is now better equipped to deliver these benefits at a larger scale and faster pace.
