Technology giants Sky have announced a partnership with a new app that’s quickly changing the UK’s rental landscape. The app, dubbed My Rent Rewards, allows its users to easily save money towards their rent simply by making selected purchases. The brands that users can receive rewards from, which currently includes 200+ major labels, now includes Sky as announced by Matt Davies, Head of Sky Homes.

Davies says, “We are delighted to launch our Sky Property Partnership with My Rent Rewards, bringing better Sky content and innovation to a new audience in new ways. Sky Property Partnerships is our first dedicated programme designed to add value in the property sector, as we recognise the importance of better connecting people to more of what they love, when they need it most. We look forward to a big year ahead with My Rent Rewards.”

Rent prices have risen by nearly 14% on average over the last 5 years across the UK, so there’s never been a better time for a service like My Rent Rewards to enter the scene. The free app, founded by Priscilla Mazava and Nichola Fahey in 2017, is free and available for both Apple and Android users.

Once users have downloaded the app, they’ll receive in-app discount codes and vouchers to spend at their favourite stores – both in-store and online. When they apply these discounts to their spending, they’ll receive cashback as a percentage of the transaction amount, which is ringfenced in a separate account specifically allocated for their rent money. So essentially, the more users take advantage of the various discount codes offered to them, the more money they’ll save towards their rent.

My Rent Rewards are proud to have partnered with tech giant Sky and are now able to offer their users big discounts off Mobile, Superfast Broadband and TV packages; not to mention Sky Cinema and On-Demand services. This is in addition to the existing partnerships with over 200 other major brands, including easyJet, Tesco, M&S and Superdrug.

The app has already made strong impressions in the property sector, having been shortlisted for the Housing24 Innovation of the Year Award 2019 and boasting agreements with 7 UK Housing Associations; 3 of which are members of the G15 group – the group known to set the UK market trend. There are 40 other Housing Associations who are currently expressing a keen interest the service: each with a rental portfolio of over 1 million homes.
