Swedbank Robur, one of the leading asset management companies in Sweden, has announced the launch of a new global equity fund called Security and Defence. The fund will be actively managed and will focus on three main themes: defence, cybersecurity, and civil protection. This move is in line with the company’s commitment to promote sustainable development, specifically the UN Sustainable Development Goal 16.
According to Agnes Virf, one of the three portfolio managers of Swedbank Robur Security and Defence, this new fund is a response to the changing reality we live in. She believes that there is a long-term potential for growth in the security sector as the demand for security solutions continues to rise. These sectors also tend to be less affected by economic cycles and serve as a safety net during uncertain times. Additionally, they drive technological innovation that has a positive impact on other industries and society as a whole.
The fund will have a global investment strategy and will initially consist of 20-40 holdings, including companies of different sizes and across various parts of the value chain. Some examples of potential investments include the defence industry (aerospace and space systems, naval systems, drones, and anti-drone technology), cybersecurity (network and cloud solutions, identity and access protection, surveillance), and civil protection (physical security, safety equipment, protection of critical infrastructure, and emergency services).
Patric Naeslund, another portfolio manager of Swedbank Robur Security and Defence, emphasized the benefits of the fund’s global investment strategy. By investing globally, the fund will have access to a wide range of companies and take advantage of opportunities worldwide. This approach also contributes to a well-diversified portfolio. He also assured that despite being a new fund, the company has extensive experience and expertise in these areas, enabling them to manage Security and Defence responsibly and insightfully from the start.
The fund will be traded daily and will have a management fee of 1.25%. The portfolio management team consists of experienced managers from Swedbank Robur:
– Agnes Virf, Portfolio Manager Swedbank Robur Security and Defence, Deputy Portfolio Manager Allemansfond Komplett and Kapitalinvest
