Report Reveals Opportunities for Optical Materials in 6G Communications Research by Zhar

Zhar Research have released a new 355-page report, “6G Communications: Optical Materials and Components Markets: Visible, Near IR, Far IR from 0.3THz 2023-2043”, which identifies vast opportunities for optical materials and components from 6G Communications.

The report, which is a drill down from the overview report, “6G Communications: Materials and Components Markets 2023-2043”, aims to answer questions surrounding the necessity of the massive hardware expense of 6G, the value of added opportunities for silicas, graphene, aluminas including sapphire, 3-5 compounds, silicon nitride, and chalcogenides, and which materials are trending down with the advent of 6G. It also looks at the need for massive amounts of fiber optics and optical wireless communication during the first 6G phase from 2030, and the second 6G phase which will be primarily with optics from 0.3THz far infrared to UV.

The report begins with a detailed glossary and listing of 96 of the companies mentioned, followed by an Executive Summary and Conclusions. It also includes an Introduction explaining the rationale, coverage and key issues, and chapters covering 6G Optical Wireless Communication OWC, 6G reconfigurable intelligent surfaces at 0.3-10THz far infrared, 6G reconfigurable intelligent surfaces at near infrared and visible light, Dielectrics, passive optical materials and semiconductors for 6G 0.3THz to visible, THz cable waveguides for 6G transmission and client device waveguides, and fiber optics for 6G systems. Lastly, the report looks at graphene and other 2D materials in 6G.
