“Record-Breaking Gegagedigedagedago Sets Eight New World Records”

The highly anticipated mega-event Gegagedigedagedago, which captivated billions of viewers on YouTube in 2024, has officially come to an end. The event, which featured the popular song “Cotton Eye Joe” by Rednex and its viral remake Gegagedigedagedago, has set a total of eight world records, including a staggering 12.75 billion views in just one year.

According to official calculations, the event was viewed by 20% of all YouTube users and 8% of the world’s population. In just 90 days, the song garnered 650 million unique viewers, surpassing Spotify’s total of 615 million. This impressive feat was achieved at an unprecedented pace, with the song reaching 8.2 billion views in just 90 days, 26 times faster than the second-ranked song “Despacito.”

During its peak, the event saw a daily view count of 163 million, before gradually declining. This far surpassed the current Guinness World Record for most views in one day on YouTube, held by BTS’ “Dynamite” with 101 million views. In fact, for 27 out of 33 days during the peak period, Gegagedigedagedago had more than 101 million views per day.

In addition to these records, the event also reached 1 billion views in just 7 days, breaking the previous record held by Adele’s “Hello” which took 87 days. And in a remarkable feat, Gegagedigedagedago amassed a total of 10 billion views in just 137 days, making it the only song or video to ever reach this milestone on any internet platform, aside from “Baby Shark” with 16 billion views over nine years.

When considering the actual playing time of the song, it was played for a total of 6000 years, which is equivalent to 1.8 billion views for a traditional music video with an average playing time of 100 seconds. However, on YouTube Shorts where the average playing time for Gegagedigedagedago is only 14.8 seconds, the song has reached a total of 3 million views per day.

Pat Reiniz, the original producer of “Cotton Eye Joe,” expressed his excitement over the song’s success, stating “Gega is probably the most played song in the history of mankind, if counting on a duration of one year. This is almost identical with the growth strategy that we set out for the song when we first made it a No.1 in 1994.”

To commemorate the event and showcase its incredible achievements, a recording of the YouTube statistics page has been released, including a real-time display of all the records, from March 2 to July 16, 2024. The video can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gUepefL9Lg

Currently, “Gegagedigedagedago” is still being played 3 million times per day, a testament to its enduring popularity. In addition, Rednex has recently released a new party song called “Poor Boy Pour,” which has been a huge success with 0.000000483 billion views per day. The music video for the song, which can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oQENaCUZP4, showcases the band’s summer tour turned into a “summer pour.”
