Hope Spring eCards, a UK charity platform, has recently announced the launch of their new collection of Black Birthday eCards. These eCards feature designs that showcase the Black community, culture, and families.
The creation of this collection was in response to the lack of representation often found in traditional and digital greeting cards. While the variety of cards available online has expanded, some individuals still struggle to find cards that feature characters, families, and cultural details that they can relate to.
This new collection provides a much-needed option for those looking to celebrate the birthdays of their Black friends, family members, colleagues, and loved ones.
The release of this collection coincides with Black History Month, a time when organizations and communities in the UK celebrate Black history, creativity, identity, and achievements. Hope Spring believes that this collection is just one part of a larger conversation about representation in everyday products and digital spaces.
According to Mary Adeotan, Manager at Hope Spring eCards, “Everyone deserves to see themselves and the people they love represented in the cards they send and receive. A birthday card may seem like a small gesture, but being recognized and reflected in that gesture can make it much more meaningful.”
The collection includes a variety of designs featuring birthday scenes, characters, and artistic styles. These designs showcase individuals, friends, and families in different forms of joy and everyday life.
Users can select a design, add their own personalized message, and send the eCard digitally. These cards can be shared via email or WhatsApp with recipients both in the UK and overseas.
Mary also added, “We wanted to create birthday eCards that feel warm, joyful, and authentic. Representation should not be limited to a particular month or treated as a seasonal theme. It should be part of the choices available to people throughout the year.”
In addition to providing a new way to send digital greetings, Hope Spring eCards also allows users to make a donation to support the organization’s work in improving access to safe water in communities suffering from water poverty.
According to Joshua Ojo, Manager at Hope Spring Water, “The collection connects an everyday form of communication with the charity’s wider work. Anyone who chooses to make a donation can support clean-water projects while sending a birthday message.”
Digital greeting cards are a great way to connect with loved ones who may be separated by distance. They do not require printing or postage and can be personalized before being sent directly to the recipient.
While this collection is being highlighted during Black History Month, Hope Spring has made it clear that these eCards will be available throughout the year. The charity believes that representation is important for everyday occasions, including birthdays, anniversaries, family celebrations, and seasonal events.
